This position will report directly to the Accounting Services Director for Heartland. The Assistant Controller will manage the Signature Administrative Team and be responsible for the accounting and clerical functions at Signature Landscape, LLC which includes the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger
  • Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end reports and perform closings
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors
  • Assessing current accounting procedures, offering recommendations and implementing new processes
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
  • Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
  • Hiring, training, coaching and retaining a highly effective Administrative Team
  • Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of accounting experience, if no college degree than minimum of 9 years accounting work experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and financial procedures
  • Demonstrated aptitude to assure all responsibilities are consistently and efficiently met on a stand-alone basis or with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills need to effectively oversee the department and team
  • Capacity to make critical judgments, problem solve and have a strict attention to detail
  • Driven to meet goals of position, department and company, by working independently and as an effective team leader
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and follow-up skills, while handling multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability to track information and maintain a proper workflow of all required paperwork
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to deal tactfully with all customers, and employees
  • Exceptional customer service and follow up skills when interacting with all internal and external customers
  • Flexible enough to work varying hours to meet the needs of the company
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with policies, procedures and objectives
